The cave is a transitional space, a borderland full of dualities: life and death, light and shadow, the conscious and the unconscious. It serves as a mirror of our inner self – revealing what lies hidden in the depths. At the same time, it is a gateway to the origin, a return to the source of all being, a place where birth and new beginnings unfold. It feels like a protective space, yet through its mysteries it remains a place of fear as well. But what will always lead us out of the darkness is the light. For the light will always stand for life.
With my photographic technique, I create images that resemble AI renderings – yet are captured in reality through colored light or experimental white balance. In this way, reality itself plays artificial intelligence. A field of tension emerges between nature and technology. Within this tension, the human body becomes a symbol of origin – a reminder of birth, transformation, and the return to the source of all being. Each photograph becomes a big bang: an eruption of color, body, breath, and consciousness.
Ultimately, life can only emerge from the deepest darkness. Without darkness, we cannot see the light. It is only when we enter the darkness that we can experience the light. The deeper we engage with that darkness, the more clearly we recognize ourselves. And when we emerge from the depths of the cave back into the light, everything becomes brighter: colors grow more vivid, breath grows freer. This is rebirth – the rediscovery of true life.
