Athletes, entertainers, public figures and fictional characters occupy the same cultural space. They transcend their identities and become symbols, carrying the hopes, expectations and projections of millions.

In this first work, sport, mythology and popular culture collide. Identity is reduced to its essential elements: a silhouette, a name, a number, a symbol.

Batman is not the subject. He is a metaphor. The universal shape of an ICON – a mask that could belong to anyone who has become larger than life.

This work opens the direction for the ICONS series.
